A Tough Start for Israel’s New Police Commissioner

ipcIncoming Israel Police Commissioner Roni Alshich was expected to assume his new role this week after serving in the IDF and the ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) for decades, rising to the rank of deputy commander.

A day before he puts on his new blue uniform, Alshich fractured his foot and is in Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer Hospital. It appears his entry into the post is on hold and Acting Commissioner Bentzi Sau will remain in office until such time Alshich can assume command of Israel’s police force.

Alshich is 52, the father of seven and grandfather of seven. He is Shomer Shabbat, and has spent his life in the ISA, serving until in an array of posts. He was appointed as the new commissioner about six weeks ago.

  1. This man does not look like a policeman. It could be that he has unseen talents for dealing with neighborhood problems especially things like robbery, litter, weirdos, and unruly children.

It looks more like he’s there to assassinate Arab terrorists. Hopefully he will not be going after nationalists taking a hike in the woods, marijuana smokers, and yeshiva students who have not registered for the draft.
