Thousands of Shluchim posed for a group photo in front of Chabad-Lubavitch world headquarters in the Brooklyn borough of New York, Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015. They are among 4,200 rabbis from around the world who are in New York for the International Conference of Chabad-Lubavitch Emissaries, an annual event aimed at reviving Jewish awareness and practice around the world.
Chabad officials explain that today, the global army of shluchim stands 4,325 strong, stationed in 86 countries, manning 3,500 Chabad Houses.
There are 960 Chabad centers in the USA and Canada alone. In the past year Chabad Houses were opened for a first time in Angola, Ghana, Jamaica and the Virgin Islands.
There are 322 Chabad Houses in Eretz Yisrael manned by 600 shluchim.
One highlight each year is the traditional group photo of thousands of Shluchim at the front of the building on 770 Eastern Parkway – Chabad’s central headquarters.
This year, for the eleventh year, tens of thousands of viewers from around the world will be able to view the International Kinus HaShluchim banquet live on a broadcast made possible by the organizers of the Kinus. The highlight is always the traditional roll call of countries and regions which is followed by spirited dancing.
