Rishon L’Tzion Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef Shlita has sent a letter to the directors of Kol Berama Radio prohibiting the station from airing his weekly motzei Shabbos shiur. The station stopped airing the weekly shiur for a period of time and resumed on this past motzei Shabbos, prompting Rabbi Yosef to send a letter in which he prohibits the station from broadcasting his shiur.
Simultaneously, the competing station, Kol Chai Radio, has begun airing the rav’s weekly shiur. Rabbi Yosef’s decision lends backing to the Shas party battle against Kol Chai, which is aligned with former party leader MK Eli Yishai. In his letter the rav explained one must distance oneself from stations that do not adhere to the words of Gedolei Yisrael, ending with his backing for the Kol Chai and Moreshet stations.

Should the article have written ” . . . lends backing to the Shas party battle against Kol BeRama instead of Kol Chai?”
it is sad when religion is political and politics become the religion..
Politics &$$$ decisions are far from emes.
I have a tremendous amount of respect for R’ Yitzak Yosef, and I can fully understand why he would not want to grant legitimacy to his political opponents. But still, I do wish that this could have been a case where Torah united different factions of Klal Yisroel, as it is supposed to.
The problem is that Shas controls the S’fardim’s mind set. Deri is the (un)offical replacement for Rav Ovadia and sets the rules. Either get in line and bow down, or you are OUT…
