An criminal indictment for attempted murder and illegal weapons possession was handed down in the Jerusalem District Court against Bahaa Awisat, 21, a resident of the Jabil Mukhaber area of the capital. The indictment explains the terrorist left his home on October 23, 2015 carrying a kitchen knife which he planned to use in an attack in the Jewish Nof Tzion neighborhood near his home.

He arrived in Nof Tzion and took up position as he watched, waiting until he selected his victim(s), a Jewish civilian or member of the security forces. The suspect’s actions aroused the suspicions of border police who approached him with caution and ordered him to identify himself. During the police inspection the terrorist tried to attack one of the officers but B”H he responded quickly enough to prevent the attack.
