The family of Habtom Zerhum, the Eritrean man who was killed during the Beersheva central bus station attack after being mistaken for a terrorist will receive compensation from the state.
The autopsy on Zerhum determined he was killed by police gunfire and not the beating that followed by angry civilians. Zerhum was shot six times by two policemen.
Bituach Leumi officials have decided to compensate the family after Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein ruled Zerhum is categorized as a victim of terror.
Israel has already paid to fly Zerhum’s body back to Eritrea.

Unfortunate as his death was, if he snuck into the country illegally his family deserves no compensation. Why should the Israeli taxpayers who are barely making ends meet anyway now have to compensate the families of illegal aliens who are only in the country due to the Israeli government’s incompetence? It was a mistake. Too bad. Shouldn’t have paid the terrorists to sneak you across the border.
