Deputy Minister (Shas) of Finance Yitzchak Cohen on Tuesday 14 Cheshvan sharply criticized cabinet ministers and MKs who visit Har Habayis, blaming them for the current wave of Islamic terror.
“Ministers, MKs and right-wingers visiting Har Habayis are pyromaniacs who set fire to the flames” stated Cohen in an interview with Kol Chai Radio.
Cohen added “In a normal country these people would be brought to justice. They do not notice what is happening? They are aware that they fueled the fire. I do not justify the murderous Palestinians but they gave them a reason for terror attacks and we see this all along – that we are losing more and more of our assets and because of them there are now security cameras on Har Habayis and because of them Jewish blood is being spilled”.
“Those right-wingers are only hurting us politically and security wise. We remember when Sharon visited Har Habayis in 2000 and how many Jews were killed then! It will be very difficult to extinguish this fire now. I absolutely believe that [Minister] Uri Ariel and his friends are responsible for the wave of terror. I blame them all for what is taking place now without excusing the Palestinian side”.

Once again, MK Cohen opened up his mouth when nobody asked him. He should Stick his nose (and a mouth) into his own backyard of the Shas party and then preach others what, how and when to do.
MK Cohen, please don’t buy the Palestinian propaganda that blames the 2nd Intifada for Sharon’s visit to Har Habayis. Although Barak had agreed to 95% of the Palestinians’ demands at Camp David, Yassar Arafat, yemach shmo, rejected the Israeli peace gesture. Instead, the PLO head instructed his goons to come en masse to Al Aksa with stones to throw at Jewish worshippers at the Kosel. Sharon’s ascent to Har Habayis was just the “teirutz” that the PLO used to “justify” their diabolic anti-Semitic plot.
Where do we draw the line? Should my family leave Modiin Illit, the largest Jewish town over the Green Line, since some Arabs are upset at us “settlers”?
To paraphrase MK Cohen, “In a normal country, those who prevent freedom of religion would be brought to justice.” I am NOT advocating ascent to Har Habayis. However, it seems that the State of Israel is the only country in the world that makes it illegal to daven.
Imagine the US gov’t banning Jews from davening in Boro Park. The ADL, APAC and Young Israel would take to the streets! It’s time that we stop pandering “mah yafees.”
Sorry folks, but I tend to agree with Cohen on this issue. When the holiest place on earth is used for political statements, that is a desecration of Har Habayis. Soon Moshiach will be here and all of these disputes about the Temple Mount will be over because the Beis Hamedrash will be standing there again. But until then, as an impure people, let’s stay off of there. This is also the wish of our Gedolim, who I’d rather listen to vis a vis halacha then the National Religious people who want to make a statement. We know Har Habayis is ours, you don’t have to go there to prove it.
