At 6:00PM Monday evening 13 Cheshvan, 38,000 Israel Electric Company (IEC) subscribers remain without power. The outages that have still not been repaired are primarily in Netanya, Herzliya and Ra’anana. This despite promises from the nation’s major utility that all electric would be restored by noon Monday.
IEC officials apologized to the nation, explaining they did not expect Sunday’s first winter storm to be so intense, admitting they were no prepared. This led to 200,000 people without power on Sunday night.
In response to yet another IEC failure in bad weather, the Knesset Audit Committee will be convening on Tuesday with representatives of the National Infrastructure Ministry, Public Security Ministry, Israel Electric, consumer representatives and other ministers to discuss yet another IEC failure.
