The French Le Figaro website reports that a rav and two mispallalim were attack in Marseilles on Shabbos morning by a man armed with a knife. One of the victims was stabbed in the abdomen and reported to be in serious condition.

Police apprehended the attacker, who was intoxicated at the time of the attack. Witnesses say he was shouting anti-Semitic slurs when taken into police custody.

The attacker was said to be thirty years old and was known to police.

At around 7:30, the assailant attacked two people, including a rabbi, near the synagogue, a police source said. A third Jewish victim, who tried to intervene, was then stabbed with the knife.

The victim, aged in his fifties, was stabbed twice in the stomach. He was seriously injured.
