The large Israel Police investigation that began during the tenure of Superintendent Yochanan Danino into widespread government corruption is leading to 36 criminal indictments, including charges against former cabinet ministers, members of the Yisrael Beitenu party and civil servants.
As the investigation reaches its end, it is announced that indictments will be handed down against former Deputy Minister (Yisrael Beitenu) Fanny Kirschenbaum and Minister (Yisrael Beitenu) Stav Mishenikov. Indictments will also be handed down against many others including but not limited to a former head of the Tamar Local Council, a former CEO of Maatz [the quasi-government road works company], a former senior Yisrael Beitenu campaign official, a former director-general of the Ministry of Agriculture, CEO of the Ezra NGO, CEO of the Ayalim NGO, the director-general against the state agencies to combat drug and alcohol abuse, a former parliamentary aide to Kirschenbaum, a former director-general of the Ministry of Tourism, and a senior Ministry of Agriculture official, and other officials.
Charges against the defendants include tax fraud, breach of trust, and accepting and giving bribes.
