Ichud (United) Hatzalah is launching a new campaign to distance EMS ‘buffs’, those curiosity seekers who run to terror attacks to be a part of the action.
First and foremost, Ichud officials call on pedestrians who distance themselves from an attack for their own personal safety. Secondly, these people often interfere with emergency personnel and life-saving efforts.
Mr. Moti Elmaliach, who heads Ichud Hatzalah’s spokesman’s unit explains the organization has decided to launch the campaign due to the fact that these ‘buffs’ as they are referred to in N. America, are too often found at attack scenes and at times, actually interfere with life-saving efforts of Ichud Hatzalah emergency medical personnel in addition to the responders from other emergency agencies.

Obviously people should use their brain. But many times it’s the bystanders that actually help save lives! Many of the attacks have been countered by “curious” people who heard screaming and came “to see what happened” and then neutralized the terrorist, held him/her down, or pointed the terrorist out to police. I think it’s dangerous to call on to people to stay away when they hear of an attack. I can’t help but suspect that the idea for this campaign came from people who felt like their position as “the rescuers” has been undermined by “simple civilians” who happened to be there first. I respect and thank Ichud Hatzala for their work and I’m sure some “curious” people can use some common sense and allow the rescuers to do their job. I also call on “simple” people to come as quickly as possible to any terrorist attack and see if there is anything you can do. Like neutralize the terrorist, or take off your shirt to stop someone from bleeding etc.
Exactly, u blockhead! They mean the guys that come to take videos and pics, and end up obstructing the rescuers.shame that that’s the only way u understood the article.
