Terror Update from Jerusalem: Tuesday, 30 Tishrei – 5:30 PM IL

unnamed (3)Many Jerusalemites are numb, trying to bring themselves out of the terror wave that painfully struck Yerushalayim and elsewhere on Tuesday morning. B’chasdei Hashem the past hours have been relatively quiet, but that does not mean the Islamic violence and acts of terrorism has stopped. There have been many reported rock-throwing attacks throughout Yehuda and Shomron causing property damage, and B’chasdei Hashem there were no fatalities or serious injuries in the attacks.

The Israeli Arab community and PA (Palestinian Authority) residents are observing today as a Day of Rage accompanied by a general strike in solidarity with al-Aqsa. Quite simply, this translates to another day of Arab violence, attacks and confrontations with security forces.

Some of the more recent terror reports include:

· 15:16: Rock attacks against police and civilian vehicles in the Hebron and S. Hebron Hills districts.

· 16:52: Rioting along the Gaza border escalating. Shots fired at an IDF vehicle.

· 17:10: Police apprehended two Arabs youths armed with knives in Migdal HaEmek. They admitted they were heading to perpetrate an attack.

· 17:25: Security forces along Gaza border have shot and wounded at least four Gazans.

· 17:38: The Tunnel Highway from Gush Etzion is closed in the direction of Jerusalem.

· The Jerusalem Municipality has established an information number. That number is *9215.

  1. אם השם לא ישמר עיר שוא שקד שומר — If Hashem isn’t watching the city then the watchmen’s efforts are in vain. Like everything else that happens in the world, and especially the Holy Land and Holy City, Hashem is sending us reminders that He runs the world and only He can protect us. The Chovos HaLevavos says that when someone puts his trust in anything other than Hashem, Hashem delivers him over to the limited powers of that other thing. Let’s work on trusting Hashem and asking Him continuously to protect us.

I saw recently that some professor and expert on Arab affairs said that the only thing that would deter a terrorist is the threat that his mother and sisters would be mistreated as a result of his actions. He emphasized that he wasn’t advocating doing anything illegal or immoral, just stating that nothing else will deter a potential terrorist. We have only Hashem to rely on.
