CityPass officials’, the operator of the Jerusalem light rail, announces it is completing preparations for the expected increase in riders during Sukkos. Special ticket sales stations will be added to the regular existing system to facilitate purchasing fare cards during the week-long yomtov. A sukka for the general public will also be available at a number of stations.
The frequency of trains will increased to accommodate the many visitors to Yerushalayim during peak hours; from 09:00 to 20:00 at which time a train will run every six minutes. From 20:00 to 22:00 there will be a train every 11 minutes instead of every 14.5 minutes.
Additional ticket sales will take place at the central bus station in addition to the Mount Herzl, City Hall (Kikar Safra) and Ammunition Hill stations.
There will be a sukka for the general public at the central bus station in addition to Ammunition Hill and Mount Herzl stations in cooperation with Sukkat Yerushalayim. There is also the main City Hall Sukka at Kikar Safra, a few hundred meters from the train station.
Adding to the yomtov event for riders, Pirchei Yerushalayim choir will perform the Machane Yehuda and central bus station train stops.
CityPass CEO Yaron Ravid explains everything possible is being done to prepare for the increase in riders and to provide a pleasant and efficient experience for passengers.
