The Halacha Division of Ichud (United Hatzalah) has prepared information sheets for persons with illnesses pertaining to fasting on Yom Kippur. Needless to say these are guidelines but one should consult with one’s physician and rav prior to the fast day for a specific psak halacha.
The document was prepared in cooperation with Leumit Kupat Cholim and with rabbonim affiliated with the beis din of HaGaon HaRav Nissim Karelitz Shlita. Ichud CEO Ze’ev Kashash explains one who takes medication and/or has medical issues must do his/her best to avoid entering into ‘sakona’ on Yom Kippur, and in most cases this includes preparing in advance and consulting with relevant authorities.
In the days before Yom Kippur Ichud Hatzalah in conjunction with Rav Karelitz’s beis din and Leumit, will be on hand to answer halachic inquiries. One may pone 0722-722-350 to speak with the rabbonim.
