Jerusalem police officials announced they have completed preparations for Rosh Hashanah, which will include the deployment of police, border police, volunteer and specialized units around the city. This includes a large deployment of forces during the days ahead of yomtov, including shopping centers, the shuk and in and around the Old City.

Additional manpower will be deployed throughout the city during Rosh Hashanah, with an emphasis on the Old City. There is also an increase in traffic control troops on routes to and from the Kosel on the days preceding Rosh Hashanah and throughout the Tishrei Yomim Tovim.

Beginning on erev Rosh Hashanah, the entrance to the Old City will be closed to private vehicles with the exception of residents.
