With Rosh Hashanah only days away, Israel’s emergency services are preparing for the influx of visitors that is synonymous with Tishrei, and nowhere more so than in Yerushalayim. This includes making sure Israel Police and other emergency services stand ready for any eventuality.
A surprise drill was conducted to evaluate the response of Jerusalem’s elite and specialized forces, including the Gideon Unit, bomb squad and other forces. The fire department and MDA also took part in the surprise drill held on Tuesday, 24 Elul. The emergency personnel were summoned to a number of scenarios to test response time and their performance.
Jerusalem Police Chief Moshe Edri was on hand to observe and evaluate his commanders and their subordinates. Edri explains police, border police and specialized units are ready for upcoming yomtov season.
