With the number of terror attacks on the rise in Yerushalayim, a special budget for increased security in the capital has been put on hold by the national government. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu promised additional funding in the amount of NIS 21 million for additional security in the capital but the decision has been made to delay the funding until 2016 and 2017.
The decision by the cabinet was made in the middle of 2014 when the security situation in the capital was difficult but the money has not been forthcoming. The cabinet announced the actual funding of cabinet decision 1775 will be pushed off. The money is intended to permit Israel Police to increase its force in the capital however officials in the Ministry of Public Security explains the delay in funding will not delay the increase in police manpower in the capital.
