Smog and haze prevail throughout Israel on Tuesday morning 24 Elul due to sand storms from the east. As a result, visibility is extremely poor as is the air quality.
Health officials have issued a warning, instructing persons with cardiac and respiratory illnesses to remain indoors with closed windows and air conditioning whenever possible. The same alert applies to the elderly, pregnant women, and small children. Children in schools are urged to refrain from strenuous physical activities outdoors.
The situation is particularly difficult at present in the Jerusalem area, Yehuda, the Galil and Golan Heights.
Weather forecasters add temperatures today will be unseasonably hot and in Jerusalem, with the heat index, it will feel like 39 C (103 F).
There is a forecast calling for rain towards evening in the Shomron Hills, Yehuda, and Jerusalem.
