An undercover investigation during recent months by the Northern Fraud Unit of Israel Police has led to the arrest of four suspects believed involved selling drivers licenses. A 50-year-old license inspector from the north is among those in custody. He allegedly received money to pass students on their driving test. A couple, Galil residents in their 40s, are alleged of being the go-between and negotiating deals between students and testers. They reportedly received significant sums of money which their shared with the licensing officials involved in the operation.
The fourth suspect is a 44-year-old driving instructor who is accused of negotiating bribes, getting students to pay for a guaranteed success on their road test. The arrests were made on Sunday, 22 Elul. All of the suspects were arraigned in the Tiveria Magistrate Court.
