Maryland Sen. Ben Cardin, the top Democrat on the Foreign Relations Committee, has announced he opposes the nuclear deal with Iran.
The announcement is a blow to the White House and will make it harder for the administration to block a vote on a disapproval resolution in the Senate.
In an opinion piece in the Washington Post Cardin says, “This is a close call, but after a lengthy review, I will vote to disapprove the deal.”
He says the agreement will end up leaving Iran closer to a nuclear capability.
Cardin’s position is critical because he is a top-ranking Jewish Democrat.
Democrats still command enough support to sustain Obama’s veto of the disapproval resolution, if necessary. They are three votes short of the number needed to block it from passing.

The key point is not because he is Jewish. Senator Cardin is the ranking Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. In other words, he is in a position to receive intelligence briefings.
No, the key point is that Cardin is a sniveling coward. He waited until Obama had enough votes to assure the deal goes through before he came out against it.
But yet the back stabbing Cory Booker is let off the hook by the Lakewood tzibbur. As long as he quotes a few “passages” from Tanach every once in a while, he’s good to go. Shameful & disgraceful.
Why did it take him so long? Was he waiting to make sure there were enough votes to sustain a veto? Just wondering
Let us not be fooled by the political theater that is Ben Cardin and what he did. The key point is that he is still Party First:

This was politics. Had this been a treaty, it would have required 2/3 to PASS. Through his bill (Cardin-Corker) it requires 2/3 to overturn a veto. V’nahapach hu, in the wrong direction. Now he just wants to protect his political future with Jewish voters.
Hashem will protect the Jewish people, but we will still need to do our hishtadlus on the next election day.
#!: There are many congressmen who have clearance to receive intelligence information (although some of them shouldn’t). Unfortunately, unlike Senator Cardin, they do not wish to be confused by the facts.
#1. Your point is? Cardin is a liberal first and a fence sitter who is trying to have it both ways. He just waited until Obama had the votes until taking a position. You think he just learned something new right now?
He’s a spineless weasel and always has been, and yes, I do know him.
