British Soldier of Jewish Descent Graffitis ‘Na Nach Nachman M’Uman’ on Former ISIS Prison

naThe following is via OnlySimchas.com:

ISIS fighters took a school fifty kilometers from their capital in Iraq and converted it to a prison. Thankfully, the school/prison was taken back by forces helping the Kurdish fighters.

One of the British military men fighting with them, Button El-Gul, is of Jewish descent. He and his fighting mates successfully fought of ISIS forces who were attempting to take back the prison.

And then Mr. El-Gul did something rather unique.

As the picture shows, the words Na Nach Nachman M’Uman are painted on the walls of the former prison.

“I wrote the name of Rabbi Nachman of Breslev here in order to bring some light into this dark place.”

In explanation of the matter, he wrote on his Facebook page, “I have seen Chassidim of Rebbi Nachman dancing in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, but it was a member of the Orthodox community in London who convinced me to join him for a trip to Uman. That was for Rosh Hashanah in 2012, and since then, I have been to Uman three times.”

Mr. El-Gul was raised as a Christian but his mother was an ardent Zionist who supported and bequesthed to her son a love for Israel.
