Not willing to sit idly by as chareidim are working to sharply reduce chilul Shabbos in Yerushalayim, the city’s secular community has announced a protest rally at Kikar Safra, City Hall, set for Thursday, 12 Elul at 17:30.
Under the banner “Nir, don’t close our city”, persons opposed to the closure of entertainment venues and other stores will speak on at City Hall this week in the hope of pressuring Mayor Nir Barkat not to give in to chareidi demands.

This is a good test case for Nir Barkat:
if he wants to head
Likud
he needs to stand up for tradition
