A 1-year-old child who was flown to a Jerusalem hospital by an IDF Chopper a week ago and admitted in grave condition, was Bichasdei Hashem released on Monday, 2 Elul in good condition, without neurological deficits.
The child was flown from the Shomron community in an air force 669 chopper after choking on a potato. First on the scene were the local security officials who summoned EMS. The child’s condition was critical when he arrived in the hospital.
The obstruction was removed from the infant’s esophagus surgically and he was placed on special apparatus to help him breath. B’chasdei Hashem a week later he was discharged in good health without any signs of neurological compromise.

a piece of potato is not something you give a 1-year old unless it is soft & the size of a pinkie fingernail. True, we don’t know if the child grabbed it from an adult’s plate, but kids need to be watched at mealtimes. It’s very easy to choke on anything. B”H the child is OK.
