A small plane has crashed on a Long Island roadway, halting service on one branch of the nation’s busiest commuter railways.
One person was killed and another person was injured when the small plane crashed on Long Island Sunday morning, police said, as the MTA announced LIRR service suspensions.
Police said that both victims of the crash were in the Beechcraft Bonanza plane when it went down at 7:48 a.m. One passenger died at the scene and the second passenger, a 54-year-old man, was taken to the hospital. The severity of his injuries were unknown.

The Long Island Rail Road said service was suspended in both directions in the area due to police activity.
