Chareidi Jerusalem councilmen sent a letter to the city attorney in regard to reports the new Yes Planet recreation complex will be operating on Shabbos. In response to the letter, the city attorney explained the law will apply to Yes Planet as it does to all other recreation centers, prohibiting opening on Shabbos.
Councilmen Yossi Deutsch, Yaakov Halprin, Michael Halberstam, Yochanan Weizman, Shlomo Rosenstein, Nachmaniel Saban, Michael Malchieli, Asher Mishali and Tzvika Cohen signed the letter.
Attorney Eli Malka told the elected city officials the 1995 law is clear and it will be enforced, permitting movie theaters and eateries to open on the day of rest under certain conditions. He adds that he spoke with his assistants and they have learned at this stage, two movie theaters and two restaurants will be operating in the complex. They explain based on the current information, other businesses will not be operating but if there are others in the future, those which may not operate on Shabbos, the law will be enforced.

This is Israeli-speak for the establishments will be open on Shabbos and that the cops, courts, etc. will come down hard on Haredim that see things differently.
