Poll: NYC Voters Believe Uber Limits Motivated By Donations

Person using the Uber appA new poll finds that 65 percent of New York voters believe campaign contributions from the yellow cab industry are behind efforts to limit the growth of the ride-hailing company Uber.

The Quinnipiac University poll released Monday also found 18 percent believe attempts to curb the company’s growth are in the best interest of the city.

Mayor Bill de Blasio last month agreed to a four-month study of the company’s impact on traffic congestion after dropping a proposal to cap growth.

San Francisco-based Uber had launched a $3 million ad campaign opposing the cap, claiming in part that the yellow taxi industry was behind it.

The poll surveyed 1,108 voters from July 30 to August 4. Its margin of error is 2.9 percentage points.
