Newly released financial disclosure records show Republican presidential contender Chris Christie earned nearly $277,000 in wages over the last year and a half as New Jersey governor.
Christie also reported earning between $15,000 and $50,000 from a blind trust and the same amount in royalties, according to a form filed with the Federal Election Commission on Tuesday.
Christie’s wife has long been the family’s higher-earning breadwinner. She retired from her high-paying Wall Street job before Christie announced his candidacy.
Christie had requested a 45-day extension from the FEC. But he filed well ahead of that deadline and in time to qualify for the first Republican primary debate to be held by Fox News Channel on Thursday.
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and several other contenders also filed their forms Tuesday.
