Rishon L’Tzion Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef Shlita and Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked have agreed that the committee that appoints the nation’s dayanim will discuss the appointment of relatives, which former Justice Minister Tzipi Livni would not permit. Two of names appearing on the list of candidates are related. At first the committee members objected but it now appears the matter will be discussed.
Livni objected to the appointments of Dayan Yinon Boaron, the son of committee member Rabbi Tzion Boaron Shlita and Dayan Ariel Switzer, a brother-in-law of Chief Rabbi Dovid Lau Shlita. Livni succeeding in obtaining a majority for her position on the committee, hence disqualifying their candidacies. Rav Tzion walked out of the meeting angry, explaining there was no point to his remaining after Livni persuaded the others to disqualify his son since he felt the decisions were made in advance.
As a result of the agreement reached between Rav Yitzchak Yosef and Shaked, the rav persuaded her to permit the committee to discuss the appointments that were disqualified by the previous administration.

There is a point of nepotism when relatives are voted in, are they the most qualified candidate or a relative &qualified?
והייתם נקיים מה’ ומישראל
We must distance ourselves not only from corruption, but also from the appearance of corruption. Nepotism, at least to people outside the system, very much smells of corruption.
“Nepotism is a Jewish disease”
So they are trying to figure how to get there relatives appointed as rabbis and judges, getting nice fat salaries with out us low life slobs noticing?
It is noticeable already that many rabbis are being arrested for all types of crimes.
The two current chief rabbis owe their positions to nepotism and political connections!
What a terrible headline. I had to read it three times. I orignally thought the article was about a committee that was going to appointment dayanim in order to discuss the issue of appointment of relatives.
A better headline would be: Appointment of Relatives to be Discussed by Committee to Appoint Dayanim.
