FINAL 20:56: All three victims were transported to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital. A 27-year-old female is reported in moderate/stable condition with burns to hands and legs. She is conscious and alert. A male has burns to his hands, listed in light condition and an Ichud Hatzalah volunteer is being treated for a light back injury.
20:30: The confusion surrounding the firebomb attack is clearing. A vehicle traveling in Jerusalem in the Beit Haninah area, between Pisgat Ze’ev and Bentzion Interchange was targeted in a firebomb attack. The targeted vehicle lost control and hit an Ichud Hatzalah volunteer’s vehicle that was passing by. The volunteer immediately began operating on the scene to get the people out of the burning car. He was lightly injured. The woman in the car according to Magen David Adom spokesman Zaki Heller is in moderate condition with 15% first and second degree burns on her entire body. She is conscious. Her husband got out of the vehicle without sustaining physical injuries. The vehicle is a total loss as EMS personnel on the scene describe the relatively light injuries as “a miracle” realizing what could have occurred. One person was transported to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital and the other to Shaare Zedek Medical Center.

20:22: A woman was injured in a firebomb attack on the Beit Haninah road between Pisgat Ze’ev and the Bentzion Interchange. An Ichud Hatzalah volunteer actually witnessed the attack and stopped immediately to assist. The woman is conscious, albeit suffering from burns, the extent of which are not reported at this time.
20:13: There are reports of injuries. Magen David Adom, Ichud Hatzalah, fire department and police on the scene. More to follow.
20:10: PRELIMINARY: There are conflicting reports but a firebomb was hurled at a vehicle in the predominantly Arab Beit Haninah area of the capital. The vehicle is in flames. Additional information to follow.

Israel’s hysterical self-blame spree will fuel more terror and violence: Not everyone is guilty
Israeli leaders and media indulged in their knee-jerk responses -‘We’re all to blame” and “”We all ignited the flames” – to two separate, individual Jewish hate crimes, repulsive though they were. It should be a far cry from universal condemnation of the fire bombing of the home of a sleeping Palestinian family, burning a toddler to death and critically three members of his family, to collective self-flagellation and loud laments that “The whole house is on fire,” and “Israel has fallen.”
The whole house is not on fire and we are not all guilty, although this was the message President Reuven Rivlin offered the nation Saturday night, July 1, in an outpouring of raw emotion that will inflame passions instead of offering remedies.
Equally counter-productive was the linkage of the murder of a Palestinian baby Friday, July 31, with the stabbing attack by another individual from a separate fringe group of radicals on the Jerusalem gay pride parade Thursday night. This linkage was made by far-out groups of protesters in order to point the finger at their standard culprits – the ruling parties – and force the entire nation to bow heads in shame.
Equating an undoubted act of terror by Jewish individuals against Palestinians with the organized, self-condoned Palestinian terrorism against Israelis and Jews, decade after decade, is an oversimplification that clouds the path to a constructive approach. Both should be energetically addressed, but they are different in nature and call for different remedies. It is important to de-emotionalize the atmosphere, put a stop to the orgy of self-flagellation and collective blame and turn to a professional, objective course of action.
I don’t understand why the Israeli government doesn’t have Jerusalem (and any other city full of Arabs) swarming with soldiers whenever a threat is put out by the Arabs. The Arabs are trustworthy when they state they will enact terrorism, so it makes sense to have a show of force until their anger dies down. The best defense is a strong offense.
