Labor Court Orders Light Rail Employees Back to Work

The Jerusalem Labor Court has ordered the union representing Jerusalem light rail workers to halt the unannounced strike and return to work immediately. CityPass, the company that runs the light rail, turned to the court to intervene, to order striking employees back to work. The unannounced Sunday morning 17 Menachem Avi strike halted light rail service, leaving about 140,000 daily riders seeking an alternate means of transportation.

The court ordered drivers back to work, including adhering to the new schedule that begins today, a train arriving in under six minutes during most hours of the day.

Another hearing was scheduled between the sides in the labor court for noon Sunday to permit them to continue hashing out differences.
