Yishai Schlisel, the attacker who injured six persons at the Jerusalem Gay Pride Parade on Thursday, 14 Menachem Av, was arraigned in the Jerusalem Magistrate Court on erev Shabbos. He was ordered held over for an additional 12 days as the investigation into the attack continues.
Schlisel, who was released from prison three weeks ago after serving a 10-year prison term for attempted murder, struck again. Schlisel’s prison term followed a stabbing attack at the Jerusalem Gay Pride Parade a decade earlier.
The fact that he managed to strike again has led to audible condemnations against police amid calls for the immediate resignation of Jerusalem Police Chief Moshe Edri, who many feel must accept the consequences for the failure of his men to protect parade participants.
