As the planned Tel Aviv light rail moves ahead, Magen David Adom is making plans to operate during the construction period, which is expected to cause significant traffic snarls. Therefore, MDA is increasing the number of ambucycle units to permit EMS personnel to reach their destination despite bumper-to-bumper traffic.

MDA officials report the EMS organization operates 150 ambucycles equipped with emergency equipment including units operated by paramedics. MDA remains in constant contact with police as well as city and construction officials towards remaining apprised of the light rail construction, information required towards permitting the EMS responders to reach their destination in a most expeditious fashion. Dispatchers will received updated traffic reports towards assisting units in reaching persons waiting for emergency medical care.
