Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman surprised many during a session of the committee to battle drug & alcohol abuse. Litzman announced that medical cannabis will be made available to patients and sold, under strict registration and supervision, in pharmacies around the country. Litzman stressed sale of the medical marijuana will be treated like a controlled substance.
The deputy minister explained the matter is being adjudicated in the Supreme Court but he is optimistic that green light will be given to move ahead with the program. He stated supervision will be “aggressive” to make sure the marijuana is not sold to others.
