Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx says the government has opened a price-gouging investigation involving four airlines that allegedly raised airfares in the Northeast after an Amtrak crash in Philadelphia in May disrupted rail service.
Foxx tells reporters the Transportation Department sent letters to the airlines seeking information on Friday.
The four airlines are Delta, American, Southwest and JetBlue.

How come airline prices went up when gasoline was at Obama’s $4.00 threshold but didn’t come down when prices dropped by 25%? I know that jet fuel isn’t the same as automobile fuel but it also came down yet the prices didn’t.
Yaapchik— the reason is, is because airline hedge their fuel and the prices don’t change for them if the price of oil goes down
