Democratic Bills Target Gov. Christie’s Presidential Run

chrisNew Jersey Democrats are taking aim at Gov. Chris Christie with a pair of bills stemming from his presidential run, but their efforts look likely to fail.

Democratic senators on Thursday considered two bills.

One requires Christie to resign as governor because he’s running for president.

The other prohibits public funding to be used for travel and security for any activity not related to his role as governor when traveling beyond New Jersey.

Democrats themselves say the bills don’t stand a chance of becoming law and Christie’s office calls them “nonsense.”

But Democrats say it’s worth having the discussion.

Republicans countered the legislation amounts to a political attack on the governor.

  1. These “bills” are ridiculous. This all stems from a personal hatred that the old hag Loretta Weinberg has for Governor Christie. If the Governor was a Democrat, you wouldn’t hear a peep from these idiots.

  2. These bills are ridiculous. Christie’s presidential candidacy will die of natural causes, without any help from the New Jersey Legislature. The problems with the rail tunnel to New York, the flim-flammery on pensions, and the failure to adequately fund the state’s highway trust fund are just some of the reasons that Mr. Christie will be one of the first candidates to exit the Republican presidential clown car.

As for prohibiting New Jersey taxpayer funds from being used to pay for a governor’s presidential campaign, that sounds sensible. It’s curious that such a rule is not already on the books.
