Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) thanked Con Edison for working overtime to restore electricity to hundreds of residents on 47th Street in Brooklyn who were without power for several days. Assemblyman Hikind intervened personally with Con Edison to expedite the repairs, which affected over 300 homes, including a senior center. Temperatures in New York reached over 90 degrees this week, making quick repairs a necessity.
“The weather was so extreme, it was deplorable to even be outside. The loss of power was a hazard for the many children and senior citizens living on 47th Street and I was happy to intervene to help,” remarked Hikind. “While I am thankful this was resolved now, long-term, those in charge need to ensure this does not happen again.”
