Shortly following his retirement, it is reported that during his tenure as chief of police, Yochanan Danino spent no less than NIS 900,000 for travel abroad. The former chief’s retirement party is also under investigation as it had a reported price tag in excess of NIS 400,000.

The NIS 900,000 sum includes travel for Danino and his entourage from 2012-2015. He flew abroad 12 times during this time period and in most cases, he brought a delegation of officers with him. According to the Walla News report, funding for officers accompanying Danino did not always come from the department but from Israeli organizations including the Abraham Fund and even from a Chinese police organization.
