Protests will be held on Sunday night 3 Menachem Av at major intersections throughout Yehuda and Shomron at 5:30PM to send a message to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to stop the destruction of homes in Beit El. The Supreme Court ruled that 24 homes were built illegally on privately owned Arab land and has ordered the destruction of the homes by the end of July 2015.
Back in 2012 the Ulpana neighborhood of the community was destroyed by another court order. At that time, 33 homes were destroyed and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu promised to build 300 new units to compensate, a promise that led to the residents leaving their homes without a battle.
Days after Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu announced a continuation of his construction freeze throughout Yehuda and Shomron, he has announced that such a promise was never made. Needless to say, the 300 units have never been built and additional homes are slated for destruction within less than two weeks.
A website has been launched to enlist support in the battle, permitting persons to volunteer their time or simply to sign up to receive notices of activities surrounding the battle to save Beit El homes.
According to an ad released by the ‘action campaign’ to save homes in Yehuda and Shomron, “2,000 homes are in dangers of being razed” by the government, including homes in Netiv HaAvot, Ofra, Mitzpei Kramim, and Beit El.
