The conditions of the young couple who were critically injured on the Route 17 crash Boruch Hashem continues to improve.

The family of “Esther Mindel bas Gittel Miriam”, and “Moshe Hakohen ben Miriam Rus” have given YWN the following statement to release to the public:

Dear Friends,

We are so happy to report that both Misha and Estee Rapaport are making steady progress. However, they both have a long road ahead. Considering the progress they have made thus far, we are very optimistic and hopeful.

The family is extremely grateful to Hakadosh Baruch Hu, and to our amazing community and so many others, for the outpouring of concern, comfort and support.

Please continue to daven for Misha (Moshe ben Miriam Rus) and Estee (Esther Mindel bas Gittel Miriam). May Hashem grant each of them a complete and total refuah shleima bekarov.

The Margules and the Rapaports.

As YWN had reported on Sunday night, the couple and four of their children were returning from the Catskills to their Woodmere home when they were involved in a serious crash on Route 17 near Exit 124 in the Town of Goshen.

According to the NY State Police, the initial investigation revealed that the couple had stopped their minivan on the right side of the road on the shoulder for reasons still unknown. The husband and wife were out of the vehicle standing by the driver side of the vehicle when they were struck by a 2013 Honda. The female passenger was thrown approximately 100 feet. The vehicle which struck them subsequently veered into the center lane of State Route 17 eastbound and stopped after the accident. The vehicle then attempted to back up off of the highway when it was subsequently struck by a Mobile Life ambulance transporting a patient in the center lane.

The couple and the patient in the back of the ambulance were all airlifted to Westchester Trauma Center. The four children were transported by ground to Orange County Regional Hospital. They were subsequently transported to Westchester Hospital as well. They are all in stable condition.
