Items left behind by Rabbi Eliezer Berland led to an aide to return to get them. The person was detained upon his return and questioned by local authorities as they are working to locate the rav, who is supposed to be turned over to Israel Police to honor an extradition request. The rabbi fled Holland with two aides after a Supreme Court ruling rejecting his appeal, ordering him extradited to Israel.
Authorities released the rav’s aide who decided not to return to Rabbi Berland’s hiding place for obvious reasons. As such, Rabbi Berland is reportedly on the run with one aide remaining with him.
