A super PAC supporting Marco Rubio says it has raised $16 million to help the Florida senator win the Republican nomination for president.
That’s according to Warren Tompkins, a South Carolina strategist leading the group called Conservative Solutions PAC. The group must formally report its fundraising details to federal regulators by the end of this month.
The head of a related nonprofit policy group named Conservative Solutions Project has also raised another $15.8 million to help Rubio.
That group won’t file financial information with the IRS for more than a year, which means there is no way to immediately confirm that total.
Like most of the declared presidential candidates, Rubio is due to file a report on his own campaign fundraising next week.
