This past Sunday marked a milestone was marked in the history of Talmud Torah London on the occasion of their first ever Chumash Seuda which was held at the Eden Hall in Stamford Hill.
The event was honored by the presence of Harav Yosef Padwa Shlita, [president of the talmud torah], Rabbi Shlomo Meisels Shlita [Rov of Chevra Shas], Rabbi Avrohom Monderer Shlita [Rov of the Kosov Beis Medrash], as well as the cheider’s Vaad and staff, parents and grandparents of the talmidim, and many well-wishers. There was hardly a dry eye among parents and grandparents who were visibly moved by the nachas from the precious talmidim.
The Chumash Seuda opened with emotional divrei bracha from the Menahel, Rabbi Chaim Schachter Shlita, in which he thanked the Ribbono Shel Olom for the success of the cheider upon reaching this memorable occasion, and all the parents and askanim for their ongoing support.
The London Talmid Torah was established close to three years ago for the chassidic tzibur in London. Since then the talmid torah has earned a name for itself in the merit of the Torah, chassidus and midos imbued in the precious little ones.
The children sat under a beautifully designed banner, dressed in their matching vests and crowns. Together with the Melamed, Rabbi Yaakov Pollack Shlita, the children recited their traditional pesukim from a custom designed “Sefer Torah”. The Menahel Rav Chaim Schechter then explained to them why limud HaTorah is so special and unique. He quoted the words of the Tosafos Yom Tov when he was imprisoned, as recorded by his son Reb Shmuel that Torah is the only thing that is eternally retained, whilst all other worldly pursuits are only ephemeral.
Harav Yosef Padwa then addressed the parents, wishing them continued nachas from their children. He also wished the talmid torah much success in their Avodas HaKodesh that it should B’ezras Hashem continue to grow, and go from strength to strength.
The event concluded with lively dancing by the children and their parents, which left a strong impression on all present. The parents thanks the principal, Rav Chaim Schechter, to the dedicated mechanchem, the members of the directorate of the talmid torah HaRav HaTzaddik R’ Avrohom Mundri, HaRav Levi Pomerantz, HaRav Moshe Betzalel Halpert, HaRav Yehoshua Chaim Lifshitz, and HaRav Mendel Geldzahler.
