An early-morning crash in Woodbourne left a man with some serious injuries.
At around 4:00AM Sunday morning, emergency personnel were dispatched to Riverside Drive (Prison Road) for reports of a vehicle into a pole. Arriving units found one vehicle involved in a crash with the victim heavily entrapped inside the vehicle. There was a downed utility pole blocking the entire roadway. The victim was reportedly unconscious and had to have ventilation assisted by Paramedics.
It took the fire department around 45 minutes to successfully extricate the victim.
A chopper had initially been requested to airlift the man to a trauma center, but due to heavy fog in the area, that request was declined.
The victim was transported by the Woodbourne Volunteer Ambulance Squad to Harris Hospital.
The Fallsburg Police Department was on the scene conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.
