VIDEO: ‘Yedidim’ Rescues Lev Malka Ambulance

a[VIDEO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE]

A spokesman for the Yedidim organization reported on Tuesday, 13 Tammuz, that it received a call to assist a Lev Malka ambulance that got stuck in sand during an outing with children afflicted with cancer. The call came in to Yedidim at 13:30.

Volunteer Shlomo Yisraelowitz of the Gush Dan branch of the organization and a member of the jeep unit headed out to assist the ambulance that so often assists others.

Shlomo explains the Lev Malka ambulance got stuck in the sand and it was not able to extricate itself and he was aware that the children out for the day were with him. The ambulance lacked the traction necessary to get out of the sandy dirt area as seen in the video.

Shlomo and his 4-wheel-drive vehicle were successful in pulling the ambulance out, permitting the children to continue with the day’s events.

  1. I understand that the main point here is to point out and appreciate the good work that Yedidim does. But I’m curious. Does anybody else notice that our people in Israel seem to be very lax in following basic safety rules when going om tiyulim? How exactly did that truck end up in the sand? And how often do we here of people needing to be extricated from one dangerous situation or another in the name of bein hazmanim fun?
People taking children out for the day deserve credit for their kindness. But an even greater kindness would be behaving responsibly to ensure the safety of those in their care.

  2. Nice. Happy story for a change. So, Yedidim is Israel’s Chaveirim? If you know the subtleties of modern ivrit it makes sense 🙂

  3. golfer, while your point is well taken, have you also noticed that the Yidden in EY are more helpful to one another than the Yidden in Chutz La’Aretz, and that they are cheerful about it, and that it goes across chareidi/chiloni, Ashkenazi/Sefardi lines?
