MK Menachem Eliezer Moses in an address to the Knesset plenum on Tuesday, 6 Tammuz, blamed the “lose hand of the prosecution” for the increasing number of terror attacks in Yerushalayim. Moses explains he basis his remarks on a discussion with a senior security expert.
He explained one of the cases, the stabbing attack against two avreichim at Shar Shechem on Shavuos. Moses stated the two were injured and B”H recuperating. He told lawmakers that the prosecution is not charging the terrorist with attempted murder, but with aggravated assault. “This is not a way to work. No wonder the Arabs have increased their attacks in the capital. Once upon a time a terrorist knew that in the worst case scenario he would be released in a prisoner exchange deal one day in the future like the Jibril or Shalit deals. Today every terrorist is aware he will not stand trial on attempted murder but on lesser charges”.
He cited numerous other recent attacks in the capital, questioning the policy of the prosecution in the Jerusalem district vis-à-vis Arab terrorists.
