Niagara Bottling company is voluntary recalling all of its spring water due to concerns over possible E. coli contamination.

“E. coli bacteria were found in the water supply on June 10, 2015. These bacteria can make you sick, and are a particular concern for people with weakened immune systems,” said company officials.

The products were sold under brand names: Acadia, Acme, Big Y, Best Yet, 7-11, Niagara, Nature’s Place, Pricerite, Superchill, Morning Fresh, Shaws, Shoprite, Western Beef Blude and Wegmans.

To determine if your bottled water is affected, check the code found on the bottle which will indicate the place, date and time the product was produced.

The only affected products are those with codes that begin with the letter F (for Hamburg) and A (for Allentown) between June 10 at 3 a.m. (EDT) and June 18 8 p.m. (EDT)

The presence of E. coli bacteria in water can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches or other symptoms.

“One of Niagara’s spring sources had a positive indication of E. coli. We have not received any complaints of injury or illness of any kind. As the spring source did not notify us in a timely manner, we have discontinued the use of this source,” said officials.

The bacteria can be eliminated by bringing the bottled water to a boil for at least one minute and letting it cool for one minute.

Consumers can also discard the bottled water.
