Members of Israel’s Ethiopian community took to the streets during the Monday evening rush hour, 5 Tammuz. The protest was held in Tel Aviv in response to the announcement the policeman who beat an Ethiopian IDF soldier would not face criminal charges.
The video that went viral in Israel showed the policeman beating soldier 19-year-old Damas Pakada without provocation. Nevertheless the Justice Ministry Police Investigations Unit ruled the soldier responded and struck the policeman and therefore, the policeman will not face criminal charges.
The policeman in question was dismissed from the force.
