Israel Police Chief Yochanan Danino visited the border policeman who was critically wounded in a stabbing attack at Shar Shechem on Sunday, 4 Tammuz. The officer, Roz ben Carmela, was stabbed in his neck, chest and heart and was found in traumatic cardiac arrest when EMS personnel arrived on the scene.
Danino told the young policeman’s family that after realizing the extent of his injuries and how he managed to neutralize the terrorist despite being gravely wounded, “you should be extremely proud of him”. Danino stated as the head of the entire department he is extremely proud of Roz.
Danino brought a Tehillim with him to the hospital, telling the family “We are all davening for his recovery. I brought a Tehillim with me and this sefer has a special bracha as it has proven itself for officers during Operation Protective Shield, that it is a true shield for our citizens”.
“Recent events testify to the fact we have many heroes, our combatants are simply heroes. In all of the recent cases, the terrorists were eliminated at the scene or seriously wounded, as was the case in this latest attack…this exhibits the level of determination and bravery…”
The chief explained he came to offer his good wishes and express his pride for the border police. He was accompanied by Jerusalem Police Chief Moshe Edri and a number of other senior officers.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Sunday spoke with Border Police Commander Amos Yaakov and conveyed his best wishes for a quick recovery to the Border Policeman who shot the terrorist that attempted to murder him this morning.
“On behalf of all Israelis, tell this fighter that he is a great hero. He acted with exceptional heroism and is deserving of high esteem. I commend both his determination and that of all security service personnel who – time and again – thwart the many attempts to attack us,” the Prime Minister said.
