If no one is killed or injured in attacks against the Jerusalem light rail these attacks are no longer newsworthy. Attacks occurred almost every day this week, and while most occurred as the train passed through the predominately Arab Shuafat area, at least one occurred in the French Hill area of the capital.

In addition to the enormous expense and delays caused by rock-throwing attacks, not to mention the many cars out of service due to smashed windows, the attacks have many commuters too afraid to use the light rail from the center of town to the northern areas of the capital for they must pass through Beit Haninah and Shuafat. There is also tens of millions in damage caused to light rail stops in the Arab neighborhood of the capital.

Equally sad is the fact that the number of rock-throwing attacks against buses headed to and from the Kosel are also commonplace, and once again, if there are no injuries few hear of these acts of terrorism.

Perhaps highlighting the selective enforcement of the law is a recent case Hebron activist Baruch Marzel is not being charged http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/news/headlines-breaking-stories/320046/marzel-will-not-be-charged-with-incitement-against-zoabi.html in an incident that occurred prior to 20th Knesset elections.

In that case water was poured on Arab MK Hanin Zoabi and police tried to connect Marzel to that incident. That unacceptable incident involved water, while in the case of the buses and light rail in the capital attackers throw stones, which are potentially fatal. Nevertheless, these attacks have become a de-facto reality in the capital, albeit most unwanted, as police fail to take the necessary measures to halt the terror.
