Police bomb demolition technicians worked to dismantle a stun grenade that was connected to a door of the vehicle belonging to Petach Tikvah Deputy Mayor (Shas) Uriel Busso. The grenade was neutralized and the car was brought to the police station to permit forensic experts to analyze the ‘crime scene’. It is reported this is the second time the deputy mayor has been targeted by criminal elements. B’chasdei Hashem there were no injuries.
Busso told Kikar Shabbos News that is does not remember any threats being made against him recently and that he remains determined to continue his activities in the public arena.
Petach Tikvah Mayor Itzik Braverman, who just arrived back in Israel from a trip abroad, headed directly to the location of the incident from the airport. He spoke with police commanders and his deputy mayor.
As a result of the incident, police are increasing security for the deputy mayor. He has been assigned a round-the-clock bodyguard.
