No Meeting of the Minds Regarding Women of the Wall Organization

koselThe Women of the Wall (WoW) organization has already been given an area near the Kosel to daven but the group is not satisfied, demanding tefilla rights at the Kosel, not nearby. Former Minister of Religious Services Naftali Bennett arranged the egalitarian area for those wishing to daven near the Kosel without conforming to the regulations at the site.

Minister of Religious Services (Shas) David Azoulai met on Tuesday 29 Sivan met with Justice Minister (Bayit Yehudi) Ayelet Shaked to discuss the matter. Azoulai made his position clear, that the Reform Movement is “A disaster to the Jewish People”.

Yisrael Hayom reports the minister added “The Kosel belongs to all of Am Yisrael and the Women of the Wall continue their provocations at the site”.

Azoulai rejects the women coming in tallis and tefilin, insisting they are less interested in davening and more interest in provocation. He pointed out that they smuggle in Sifrei Torah, and continue to defy the sanctity of the area. He accuses the organization of ignoring the sensitivities of the frum mispallalim at the site.

WoW leaders are hopeful that Shaked will use her high cabinet post to advance their cause. They call on Minister Shaked to end the “discriminatory rules” at the Kosel to permit them and others to daven at the Kosel in line with their beliefs, citing they are already backed by previous Supreme Court rulings.

  1. The place “NEARBY” is actually by the Kosel Wall, on the right side of the current Ezras Noshim. It’s no different the rest of the Kosel, just that it is lower (and it always vacant, because the don’t really want to daven, just provocation and making noise.)They even have furniture there. (Shtender, seats, etc..)

  2. Why can’t they be seen the way they want to be seen? “Women of the Wall” – That is THEIR religion and THEIR belief. As אפיקורסים
They are NOT Jewish, they don’t want to be. Christians read the bible (torah) and are Christians not Jews. They can do as they please and practice the religion of “WoW” without being called or considered Jewish.

  3. Their mixed designated section is empty most of the time. They want to be seen falunting thus having a mixed section isn’t enough for them if no one sees them cause no one (including themselves) is usually there.

  4. Rew:
The problem is that they are desecrating a Mokom kodosh. It would be one thing if they had their own private services elsewhere. But they are going against Halacha at the holiest place in the world. We can’t let that happen.

  5. This group is led by rabid far-leftist,anti-Israel women who have strung along a lot of naïve, mainly American, women into buying all their “freedom and women’s rights” rhetoric when their real goal is to provoke religious Jews and discredit Israel. As a frequent worshiper at the Kotel, women of all religions are praying quietly and respectfully next to me but I don’t want this holy site turned into a free-for-all with everyone allowed to do their own thing and disrupting our prayers.WOW has a whole section (paid for by us overburdened Israeli taxpayers)where they and others can be as obnoxious and flaunt Jewish law and dress practically any way they want to their hearts’ content but NO -there’s no provocation in that.I and other religious Jewish women want them, their obnoxious male supporters and their accompanying police out of our section!
